Hot Tip Coming…

First, let me introduce you to a great meal. Last night, I went to “Treasures” in Las Vegas. Now, now… don’t  go haywire on me… Yes, it’s a strip club – but I only read the articles – LOL

If you take a severe left after entering… you’ll find yourself in a well maintained (it’s fairly new anyway), darkly lit, European atmosphere with deep chairs and high backs… pretty private!

OK – now the good part: I had what I believe to be… the second best Porterhouse I’ve ever eaten!! As you know, porterhouse steaks are hard to find on any menu. But they have it… and the chef knows “Pittsburgh Style” which is how I always order my steaks. (Pittsburgh Style – if you don’t already know, is hard to accomplish because it takes a very hot fire. It’s the fast searing (very dark to black) on the outside while remaining very rare on the inside). Black on the outside, Red on the inside (for you Roulette players).

Although they offer a free buffet in the main room, in the restaurant, Treasures meals are spendy $$$ – but I told you a Hot Deal is coming…

Here’s the bad news: Taxi to Treasures: $20. Cover charge to get in: $20 each person. Porterhouse Steak (done to perfection) $48 plus $7 for the baked potato (big enough for two), and $8 for a huge plate of mushrooms (also perfect and enough for the whole gang). Add the tip… (I hope you get Cecilia as your server – a New Yorker who calls it like it is (whoda thunk it???))… and you have a fairly hefty dinner bill.

But Wait! If you order now… LOL

Here’s the good news:

Go to Tix4Tonight (I went to the Fashion Show Mall location) and get a couple dinner coupons for Treasures ($3ea). Then, Treasures will send a limo… waive the cover charges… and give you 50% off your entrees!… and oh yes – the limo will take you back! That’s a Hot Deal!

See you at the table this weekend – you’ll find me at the Palazzo tables or the incredible Sports Book – (keep that Sports Book room our secret OK?)

I’m still here in Las Vegas – enjoying some profitable sports bets plus a few horses too! I’ve been away too long to know the horses, but I’m happy to see that the same handicapping tricks I used to teach STILL WORK!!!!

I stumbled upon a unique person… here’s a handicapper that really believes in customer service. He offers the usual: free picks, discounted trials etc… so I took him up on his offer and bought a trial period from him covering the NBA and CBB. How long has it been since you’ve visited Las Vegas? If it’s been more than a blink of your eye, you won’t recognize it the next time you’re there!

I’ve learned to never expect the same Las Vegas that I remember. It’s a constantly evolving city that never sleeps! I know New York claims that distinction… but c’mon, you won’t see such drastic changes in NYC that you do in Las Vegas.

In Las Vegas, it’s Hotels down, followed by Hotels up. Six hotels have been imploded there in the last 10 years. And the newer hotels can hardly be classified as hotels… that term is to be reserved for other cities. So don’t expect the great “hotel bargains” and “free stuff” of the past. They disappeared with the $.99 dinners.

Las Vegas developers today, don’t build “hotels” anymore. They install mini-cities, mega-resorts, and the ultimate destinations! The new developments include: World-Class Chefs, Uber Spas, and amenities unheard of, or offered only to the super-rich not so long ago. Now, instead of the tacky diners and buffets, you are presented with the finest restaurants in the World, and the highest levels of entertainment. It’s a different Las Vegas!

However, there are some bargains to be found if you know where to look. Explore the older places. There, you’ll still find good deals on food. You can still get a $5 steak dinner at Ellis Island on Koval Lane.
