On that day, HR2267, the gambling bill written by Congressman Barney Franks (overturning the UIGEA) passed through the House Financial Services Committee, and signed on it’s 70th Co-Sponsor, Rep John Campbell, California.
It’s not such a small step either. Before the bill even reaches the House for a vote, we have a great number of Lawmakers ready to vote YES!
While the House Financial Services Committee approved the Internet gambling regulatory bill, it has been now been sent to the House Energy and Commerce and the House Judiciary committees.
If the bill passes those committees, it would go before the House of Representatives. It needs only a majority of the vote, only 148 votes in favor of the bill are needed.
The House is on vacation this month (August) and has a full agenda when it returns in September. Just when they’ll get our bill of course, is anybody’s guess right now.
Add to that, the November election is looming and looking very shaky so that will have a definite dampening effect on when (or if) our bill, which would regulate online gambling in the US by overturning the UIGEA, comes to a vote.
Unfortunately for sports fans, Online Sportsbooks in the US would not be covered by this legislation.
So, let’s hope more co-sponsors sign on. Let’s hope the bill goes to the House for a vote. And let’s hope the outcome is the only fair one – the revocation of that horrible UIGEA.
I hope you all hate (hmmmm dislike) Microsoft. If not for their poor (Horrible) products, then for their poor (Horrible) business practices. (Don’t get me started – ’cause it goes all the way back to their early days – read about those pirates yourself).
Now, our beloved Yahoo has decided to get into bed with the Redmond, WA bandits. They’re merging their Search Marketing with (gag) Bing!
We who love Gambling (and that really includes EVERYONE – if you don’t believe me – stop buying Stocks, Bonds, Insurance Policies, and picking your Mate) had to leave Google… and now Yahoo too!
The Roulette tables were packed… so, I sat down at the Rapid Roulette game in the Venetian (where the minimum was only $5 as opposed to the tables $15 and up)… gave them $200 to get started. I had given the new Roulette System I told you about a vigorous workout in class and online before trying it for real. (Remember, I’ve always told you to stay away from roulette).
I had a class on the system earlier, and the students also went out to try it. None stayed here at the Venetian because the minimum bet was too high for the first time out. I’ll let you know how they did when I find out.
Okay – the layout at the “Rapid Roulette” game is weird – it’s Yellow and Red – not Black and Red and after your “deposit” shows up at your position, you have to touch the various dollar amounts and then touch the spot(s) on the screen representing your bet placements on the Roulette layout.
I’m still here in Las Vegas – enjoying some profitable sports bets plus a few horses too! I’ve been away too long to know the horses, but I’m happy to see that the same handicapping tricks I used to teach STILL WORK!!!!
I stumbled upon a unique person… here’s a handicapper that Read the rest…
We’re still on death row, but he Government granted a reprieve.
We were all to become criminals on Tuesday, December 1, 2009. That was the day the dreaded (and dreadful) UIGEA was to be enforced. Yep, all this time it’s only been hanging over our vulnerable heads. Starting Tuesday, Bush’s sneaky, last-minute, hidden addition to the “Patriot Act” (HAHAHA) was forced upon us. Long live Freedom…
One by one our “freedoms” get eroded…
But, now with this BETTER Administration – There I said it: BETTER Administration. By the way, I like Pres Obama, but face it; ANY Administration would be better than Bush’s… ANY!
Congratulations to the Orlando Magic for winning the Eastern Conference Championship. The final score was 103 – 90 in this 4th win against two for the Cleveland Cavs.
As is my calling… I must make a prediction (or two). Read the rest…
I’ve witnessed poor (criminal) politics, and it makes me sick! What’s even sicker is the fact that people “buy it”. Many people take the media reports as gospel, without questioning. I wish we could all read between the lines.
As you know, I’m outwardly against the “Unlawful Internet Gaming Enforcement Act”, and I’m looking forward to the day when this crap is overturned (for all the right reasons you’ve read here before).
So, I’m very much in support of Barney Franks and his tireless efforts to stop it! He has again introduced a bill that would DEFINE online gambling and legalize it. Yay!
The cap of 14 starters has been reached again. Today, Trainer William Komlo announced the addition of “Tone It Down” to the Preakness. The horse is owned by his son-in-law Michael Francis and his Daughter Deborah (M and D Stables).
The excitement around this entry is more of a heart thing than a head thing. This is a “local boy” a horse from Maryland, but one that’s not going to get much support outside the home state. Moreover, there will be a “local favorite” and big name aboard; Kent Desormeaux, who has won this second jewel in the Triple Crown twice, including last year aboard “Big Brown”.
I believe it’ll be the longshot in the race because it’s coming off a 3rd-place finish in the Federico Tesio Stakes at Pimlico last Saturday. His record stands at 2 wins from 6 starts. Komlo said his horse is best when he comes from off the pace, but in the Tesio, he was on the lead. He also said the distance will help because the further Tone It Down has to run, the better he is.
The Seattle Post-Intelligencer reported that a Renton, WA lawyer’s campaign to make Washington state safe for Internet poker players lost again on Monday.
“A state appeals court rejected Lee Rousso’s arguments that a 2006 law that forbids Internet gambling in the state violates the clause of the U.S. Constitution that gives the federal government the right to regulate interstate commerce.”
“Last May, a King County Superior Court judge also ruled against Rousso on a day that 70 online poker players rallied outside the courthouse.
Many of my readers have written to me about the great fun you’re
having on the free betting sites that I’ve recommended. If you’re
one of them, hold on, I’ve got something incredible for you.
If you’re not familiar with this concept, let me explain…
You can now bet online on your favorite teams (or boxers, or tennis
players etc etc etc) risking None of your own money, but you are
able to collect real money when you win.
You’ve been involved in your office pools! You’ve made bets with your friends and family. You’ve won some – You’ve lost some. Online betting makes it easy to participate with more than your immediate family and friends.
Here’s a unique idea. How about gathering a group of like minded individuals that have something in common and make a group pool out of it?
It seems that many people are interested in losing weight. So form a group pool where everyone contributes a set amount (or a percentage of the overall pool amount) and then after the agreed upon time, the pool monies are divided amongst the top three winners (losers of weight). Good Luck and Good Losing!
