Of course I’m sad, of course I’m angry, of course I’ve made the comparison of the ancient story of Sam Bowie…

If there’s a bright side to this tragedy… it’s that it will make the TBs richer following next year’s draft. Look, they are doomed now to be bottom feeders again… they gave away their top player to make room for the new Big Guy (Greg Oden).

This means they are practically assured of a good pick in next year’s draft… maybe they’ll pick up a sorely needed guard (????)

So, in Portland, they’re trying to put the good spin on this by saying it will be the making of the Portland Dynasty!!!! hmmmmmm, we’ll see!

Oh, in case you don’t know about the Sam Bowie reference…. here’s a history lesson the TB front office didn’t learn:

They had the number one pick in ancient times and had to choose between two hot players: Sam Bowie (Center), and Michael Jordan (who seemed to play every position). They “needed” a big man… so they passed on MJ, and selected Sam Bowie…. Practically before the ink dried on his contract, Sam went down, his bone went snap, and the number two (?) guy went on to super Stardom!

So here we are again… TB office geniuses selected Greg Oden (but I have to say – the fans were calling… NO SCREAMING for him here in Portland), and they passed on Kevin Durant who is healthy and ready to play… (for SEATTLE – grumble – our nemesis to the North)… He’s practically our neighbor, so we’ll be able to watch very closely his successes this year…

We here in Portland say to you once again: “Just Wait ’til Next Year”… hmmmm I’ve heard that before! Deja Vu all over again!
