Govt’s Reprieve for Online Gambling - Buzz B Berkeley
November 28, 2009 8:26 pm Recreation and Sports, Sports Betting, Online Gambling, Casino Gambling, My POVWe’re still on death row, but he Government granted a reprieve.
We were all to become criminals on Tuesday, December 1, 2009. That was the day the dreaded (and dreadful) UIGEA was to be enforced. Yep, all this time it’s only been hanging over our vulnerable heads. Starting Tuesday, Bush’s sneaky, last-minute, hidden addition to the “Patriot Act” (HAHAHA) was forced upon us. Long live Freedom…
One by one our “freedoms” get eroded…
But, now with this BETTER Administration - There I said it: BETTER Administration. By the way, I like Pres Obama, but face it; ANY Administration would be better than Bush’s… ANY!
Back to my point: Now, smarter, braver, more independent (independent of lobbyists and do-gooders who know what is good for us - ’cause they think we don’t) heads prevail.
They new heads realize that “gambling” is NOT harmful - or we wouldn’t be allowed to buy stocks, bonds, insurance policies… shoot, we wouldn’t be allowed to selece a career, a spouse, a car, etc… ’cause they all are “gambles” because we don’t know the outcome (payoff), results of our choices at the times we make them. Is that not a gamble?
Moreover, as nearly all civilized, hip, modern countries know, there’s Gold in Them Thar Hills. Yes, when gambling is legal, it’s also regulated. That means big money for the Governments. The US Gov’t would earn more than a Billion Bucks every year in fees and taxes.
Our President Obama is a Sports Fan. In fact, tonight he and his wife are watching the Oregon Beavers beat up on George Washington. OSU’s head coach is The First Lady’s brother… betcha Pres. would like to have a couple bucks on the game!
Anyway, as I said; we got a reprieve… we’re “safe” (?) until June 1, 2009. I believe they’re hoping the climate in the US will be more conducive to reversing that horrible “law” at that time.
Let’s hope so!
